Thomas rhett - Custom Promotional Box
Promotional box created in 2012 with Jake Basden, SVP of Publicity at Big Machine Records. This piece received a Silver Davey Award in 2013.
Jake wanted to create a unique piece that defined how country music newcomer Thomas Rhett is transforming, and will continue to transform the Country Music Industry. His goal was to hand these boxes out to 10 magazines, including GQ, Men's Health and People in order to pitch Thomas as a feature in an upcoming issue. The end result was a custom box that had "Can This 23 Year-Old Change The Way American Thinks About Country Music?" as the thesis. If you have followed Thomas' career, you know that this box was a HUGE success.
For the 10 pieces, I used an ink transfer marker to transfer the design onto these boxes from The Container Store, to give them a fully custom rustic look. I edited and retouched all photos, printed and matted on black art board. Jake typed out a note which I printed on vellum paper, behind a ripped worn textured paper. I wrapped the whole thing in a leather ribbon.
